U11 A, B, C, D & E

22 Sept | St Joseph's in the Park | A tough start to the season saw the U11 boys struggle to get into their stride somewhat, but battling performances bode well for the rest of the term. Individual praise goes to Gabriel Rushing who once again performed heroics in goal for the A team; a shake of the hand from the opposition's coach is always a positive sign to see. Things to work on and improve for sure, but a solid start and the after match sausages certainly went down a treat! |
6th Oct | Stephen Perse | A much improved performance from the boys saw both teams record well deserved victories although they were certainly made to battle for the wins. It was pleasing to see the boys try to play football in the style we had worked on earlier in the week and hopefully they can continue this in their next fixture. An added bonus was double teas which saw the boys devour plenty of melon! |
13 Oct | Lincroft | This was the first fixture of the season that saw every single boy in Year 6 represent the school and what a credit they were to us. The boys battled hard and, in spells, played some nice football even though not all of the results went our way. A much improved second half from the A team, where they finally decide to pass the ball around rather than hit and hope, saw them secure a great victory. As always the sportsmanship and behaviour of the boys was impeccable, well done all. |
3 Nov | House Matches | Another wonderful afternoon of house football took place on a glorious autumn afternoon. Again the standard of football played by all teams in both the A and B competition was impressive and evidence of the hard work every child has put in this term. Every single boy in Year 5 and 6 represented their house in 3 fiercely competitive fixtures against the other houses at The Prep with Stafford just coming out on top - this is only Round 1 though boys so stil all to play for! |
4 Nov | The Perse Prep Tournament |
Well, what can I say, oh I know ... WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS! On a very wet and cold Satuday morning a mix of U10 and U11 boys travelled to Cambridge to take part in The Perse tournament. The boys worked their socks off, played some amazing football and both the A and B team thoroughly deserved to come out as winners. However, it was their spirit and determination that shone for me and their desire to work hard gave just rewards. Full match report here |
10 Nov | Lincroft | The U11 A and B teams faced Lincroft on a cold Friday afternoon; however, this did not stop the A team playing some fantastic football once again. Facing the only side who beat us at The Perse tournament the boys were determined to put in a better performance - they certainly did and another victory followed. The B team also worked hard and at times impressed, but the cold weather got to them a bit more and a fast start from the opposition saw them with a mountain to climb. Warm sauages and chips were thoroughly deserved and thoroughly enjoyed and some new friends were certainly made. |
15 Nov | The Perse | On a dark Wednesday evening every single boy in Year 6 played for every single minute across five games against The Perse. This was the first time that I can remember that we were able to field A-E teams across one year group and what a festival of football was on show. Every single boy played extremely well and the positive results at the end showed this. What was most impressive was the determination of the boys to keep battling even after going a goal or two behind and the encouragement that they gave to each other when things went a little wrong. 3 wins and 2 draws just show how far we have come, when I first started, keeping the score below double figures for our C and D teams was the aim! |
17 Nov | St Joseph's in the Park | And so the season finished as it began with a fixture against St Joseph's in the Park. Unfortunately, due to the early nights this only involved the A team and after pipping the opposition at The Perse tournament the boys knew that they would be in for a tough game. It was a truly fantastic game of football to watch, one which both teams could have won, but perhaps the draw was the fairest result - football was certainly the winner! A fitting end to the season that has seen this group of boys continue with their develop whilst expereincing a great deal of success along the way. |

29 Sept | Stephen Perse | Two solid performances saw the U10 boys get their season off to a flying with plenty of goals and two well deserved victories. The boys moved the ball around well which saw them create plenty of chances, but I think a few might have left their shooting boots in the changing room! Greater accuracy in the second half saw the boys rewarded with more goals and a hearty after match tea was enjoyed by all. |
6 Oct | St Joseph's in the Park |
Our U10 A&B teams faced St. Joseph’s on Friday afternoon. For the A team, the game will go down in the ‘What can we learn from this?’ column. The boys were disappointed in their performance, but have the opportunity to get the game out of their system with another tough match on Friday this week against The Perse. The B team, however, were outstanding, showing grit and determination in spades, as well as a coolness under pressure, which led to many scoring opportunities. |
13 Oct | The Perse |
Once again every single boy in Year 5 was involved in this fixture and all played well. The A team put in a solid display and were unlucky not to win after playing some really good football. The B team worked really hard against a strong Perse side and, as a team, they really kept to the task. The C team also face a strong side and were unfortunate not to be win the first half of their game. But ‘Team of the Day’ were the D team who put in a spirited display and thoroughly deserved the draw. |
3 Nov | House Matches | Another wonderful afternoon of house football took place on a glorious autumn afternoon. Again the standard of football played by all teams in both the A and B competition was impressive and evidence of the hard work every child has put in this term. Every single boy in Year 5 and 6 represented their house in 3 fiercely competitive fixtures against the other houses at The Prep with Stafford just coming out on top - this is only Round 1 though boys so still all to play for! |
24 Nov | St Joseph's in the Park |
On Friday the U10 A team travelled down to St. Joseph’s in the Park. The boys knew they would be in for a tough game, which certainly turned out to be the case, losing by 8 goals to 1. Although we were outplayed and out-muscled for most of the game, our boys continued to try and play football, which was pleasing to see. |
25 Nov | Stephen Perse |
Saturday’s game saw our boys face older opposition in Stephen Perse U11 As. This time, the passing football paid off for us and we dominated the game. Stephen Perse's keeper made several impressive saves and managed to keep his team in it as Kimbolton continued to create goal-scoring opportunities. A couple of lapses in concentration saw Stephen Perse grab a couple of goals, resulting in a 2.2 draw. The B team were also involved and put in probably the best team performance I have ever seen during my time at Kimbolton. In a first half that they dominated the quality of their passes, their fantastic use of space, and wonderful teamwork saw them score four unanswered goals to race into a half time lead. A few changes in positions in the second half disrupted the fast flowing football, but a wonderful performance from all. Well done boys! |

8 Dec | Milton Keynes |

21 Sept | Stephen Perse | All of the boys in Year 4 were involved in this season opener and it was a case of being thrown into the deep end somewhat. The boys battled bravely against some very tough and skilful opposition showing some very promising signs but in true Kimbolton spirit never gave up and kept trying to play football the right way. |
28 Sept | Kingshott | Again, every boy in Year 4 played in this fixture against Kingshott and the excitement of our first away match of the season was clear to see throughout most of the day. As expected the boys played well but, perhaps more importantly, were outstanding ambassadors for the school throughout the afternoon. A special note of praise for our Year 4 pupils was how well they supported the Year 3 boys on their very first Kimbolton sports fixture. |
5 Oct | The Perse |
All of the U9 boys, along with a handful of U8s, travelled to Cambridge on Thursday to face a tough Perse side. Despite being soundly beaten in all three games, the boys had enormous fun and learned a good deal too. The highlight, though, has to be the sausage rolls after the match, which went down a storm – amazing how quickly food can help 8-year-olds forget the result! |
16 Nov | House Matches | Wow! What a great afternoon of football that saw goals flying in from everywhere and results changing every minute. Every boy in Year 3 and 4 represented their house in the first round of our annual football competition and the standard on show was certainly impressive, well done boys. Each house had a member of staff to manage them throughout the afternoon and they certainly took on their roles with a great deal of energy with Mr Tudor flapping his arms around and shouting words of encouragement to Mr Bates with his tactics board. What was really pleasing to see was our stronger players really encouarging their team mates and trying to involve everyone - exactly what house football is all about! It was too close to call at the end with just goal difference separating first and second. More of the same in round 2 please boys! |

28 Sept | Kingshott | Every boy in Year 3 travelled to Kingshott for an afternoon of football. For all of these boys this was their first match for the school, so the excitement was palpable throughout the morning (and most definitely on the bus!). The boys should all be proud of their performances both on and off the pitch - they were a credit to our school. |
