Mathematics Masterclass Programme Autumn Term 2024

The Mathematics Masterclass is designed to cater to the most able Year 5 mathematicians who have a real interest in the subject.

The sessions are problem-solving orientated, engaging pupils in tasks such as code breaking, shape transformation and numerical puzzles.  By using a mixture of discovery learning and ICT we aim to stretch the pupil’s mathematical thinking rather than teach them new material.  Children will require no prior knowledge beyond the National Curriculum.

Masterclasses will run on the following Saturdays and children must be available to attend all 6 sessions within their chosen programme.

The timings, including the introductory briefing for parents and final week presentation, will be:

    How to apply

When booking, please select which time you would like to attend.

Although each session is independent of the others, we expect children to attend all the Masterclasses in their course.  There is no charge but places are limited and we will run a waiting list so please do let us know if your child can no longer attend.

We have written to the headteachers of participating schools to send out the invitation.

The deadline for applying to the course is 9 August 2024. Please only apply to one masterclass. Your automatic confirmation will book your child onto the event. We will then send your further information/joining instructions with more details about the course, before the end of the summer holidays.

Our next series after this one will be in Spring Term 2025 for 2024-25 Year 5 pupils.
