Prep Pupils Welcome Top-Class Facilities

Kimbolton Prep School staff and pupils joined construction workers for an official ‘topping-out’ ceremony this week, to mark a milestone in the development and refurbishment of the Prep School buildings.
The event marked the completion of the roof on the brand new 6-metre high entrance atrium, which links Aragon House (Reception to Year 2) with the main Prep building (Years 3 to 6). This accessible and welcoming School entrance will also provide a large and flexible learning area with views onto the sports fields and woods beyond. Out of teaching hours, the space will double up as a reception area for Prep School events, opening directly onto the Hunter Hall. The building will also include new School offices and a nurse’s station.
The extensive refurbishment of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms over the Summer holiday has created brighter and more spacious learning areas for our youngest pupils. Work to expand the Lower Prep playground and fit out the link building is on schedule to finish in February 2020. Once completed, the existing Lower Prep entrance lobby will be converted into an additional group teaching room.
Kimbolton School Bursar, Mr Edward Valletta, thanked contractor SDC and emphasised that the project was fully on schedule. He said: “The success of this latest building project is due to the School’s close cooperation with SDC, who previously worked with us on the Queen Katharine Building.”
Prep School Headmaster Mr Phil Foley added: “We are looking forward to the additional facilities and improved Prep School layout, which will benefit pupils and staff alike. We also have exciting plans to repurpose the rooms released by the move of the school offices.”
