Prep 'Read-a-Thon' Raises over £6,000
Prep pupils from Reception to Year 6 raise vital funds for Home Start Cambridgeshire.
Prep pupils have raised an incredible £6,294.42 for Home Start Cambridgeshire through their recent World Book Day 'read-a-thon'. The annual celebration of reading saw children from Reception to Year 6 read for a staggering 25, 138 minutes in total, over the space of five days.
Pippa Goodhart, one of the selected World Book Day authors, and Patron of Home-Start Cambridgeshire, visited the Prep on Friday 24th March to talk to Year 3 about her books and life as a writer. In a special assembly, she also awarded prizes to the pupils who managed to read for the most amount of minutes.
Year 3 teacher Mrs Cathy Bridgeford said: "On behalf of Home Start, Mrs Hoather extends her warmest thanks to every child and family that supported this endeavour. The school is incredibly proud of you all for what you have managed to achieve, and your generous donations will make a huge difference to many people's lives."
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who took part.
