On 12 June 2024, our Prep school celebrated Year 3 Ancient Civilisation Day. This event is designed to immerse students in the fascinating worlds of ancient Greece and Egypt through a series of engaging and educational activities.

The morning began with creative activities that allowed students to explore ancient art and craftsmanship. They decorated Greek vases and made Greek tiles from clay, meticulously designing patterns and scenes reminiscent of ancient times. The students then participated in a scavenger hunt and active quiz, applying their knowledge of ancient civilisations in a fun and dynamic way.

Next, the students donned their dancing shoes for a lively "Walk like an Egyptian" dance class. The Hunter Hall was filled with laughter and enthusiasm as they learnt the iconic moves, embodying the ancient Egyptian spirit. One of the day's highlights was the 'Dress the Mummy' competition, where students used toilet rolls to transform their classmates into mummies. Congratulations to Otto for winning 'Best Overall Mummy' and to Penelope for 'Best Dressed Mummy'—your imaginative efforts were outstanding!

Afterwards, students participated in a Mini Olympics. The spirit of competition was alive as our young athletes showcased their skills in various ancient Greek-inspired games, fostering teamwork and camaraderie.

Year 3 Ancient Civilisation Day was a fantastic success, offering our students a unique and memorable educational experience. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by everyone involved were truly inspiring. We look forward to many more such enriching events that bring history to life and spark a lifelong interest in learning.

Thank you to all the staff who helped make this day special, and to our Year 3 students for their boundless energy and enthusiasm. We are already excited about next year's journey through history!
